2013 PGA Merchandise Show Recap

Orange County National Driving Range
Going to the 2013 PGA Merchandise show was one of the best golf experiences of my life! It was my first time and if you haven't gone, you need to! I literally felt like a kid at Toys R Us. The demo day was the best part. A whole 360 degree driving range surrounded by every club and shaft manufacturer you could thing of.

I got to meet and talk to some great people too, especially people I look up to as an aspiring Long Drive Competitor. I met 2007 ReMax World Long Drive Champion Mike Dobbyn. Mike is huge, built like a linebacker, no wonder he needs a 4x shaft and hits the ball 400 with ease! He was really laid back and took time to speak with me about the sport, answer my questions and offer helpful advice for someone new to the sport.

It was very much appreciated! (Thanks Mike, hopefully see you on the grid someday!)
The highlight of my trip was meeting and talking with 2 Time ReMax World Long Drive Champion Jamie Sadlowski. Another guy I look up to because he shows that you don’t need to be big to compete in the sport of Long Drive. It's inspiring to see a guy similar to my body type be able to generate so much power and speed in the golf swing. Jamie is another great guy, took time to speak with me as well about long drive equipment.

Day 2 was at the Convention Center in Orlando. Fujikura shafts had a long drive contest at the show and I came in first place on Thursday with a drive of 383 with a stock driver and shaft combination and ended up winning a free shaft.

I did a lot of networking down at the PGA show as well for my golf fitness business. Talking to People from TPI ( Titleist Performance Institute) about what they have in store for 2013.
I ran into a ton of people I knew too down at the PGA show. A lot of people from CT and people I had spoken with over the phone in the golf industry who I finally was able to meet in person. It was pretty cool and showed me just how small the golf business can be.

But more important, I got to share my first PGA Show experience with some great friends!!!  I couldn't have asked for better company for the week to get away from the cold CT weather and to clear my head from the stresses life throws at you. It was just what I needed to help recharge the battery!
